During his career, Malcolm flew Seafires initially training with 761 Squadron, transferring to 718 Squadron, the Army Co-operation Naval Operation Training Unit, before joining 887NAS in November of 1944. The Squadron joined HMS Indefatigable sailing for the Far East as part of the British Pacific Fleet.
