James was born and educated in Scotland. After completing an Arts degree at the University of Glasgow, he completed National Service as a pilot in the Royal Navy (Fleet Air Arm), where he continued his love of flying. After National Service he studied law at the University of St Andrews and later, at McGill University, Montreal. There followed a long and successful career as a lawyer in Canada. With sadness we announce that James has succumbed to the cancer which he fought for many years. It is his wish to be Cremated and for a Private Service of Remembrance to take place in his native Scotland at a later date. He leaves behind his wife Irmtraut and daughter Anna. His family in Scotland and many friends mourn his passing.
