The Association has learned of the death of S/Lt(A) Eric John Victor King RNVR on 2 February 2019, peacefully in his sleep aged 94.

Eric served between 1943 – 45 as a Pilot with 836 NAS on the MAC ship Empire MacKendrick and 798 and 748 Squadrons.

On 1 June 1945 whilst flying Fairey Swordfish NS152 of 836V Flight Empire MacKendrick, heading ashore to Maydown, turned to port just after take off, the engine failed and the aircraft crashed into the sea 52°17’N 05°48’W. S/Lt EJV King rescued and S/Lt N Hammerton killed.
