Six Pilots and five Aircrewmen were on parade to receive their Wings at an 846 Naval Air Squadron Commando 5 Merlin MK4 Course Wings Parade.

The parade took place at the Royal Naval Air Station RNAS Yeovilton in front of Force members, families, friends and wide-ranging guests and dignitaries.

Always a special event in the Commando Helicopter Force calendar this parade was made even more so as presenting the Wings was Admiral Sir Keith Blount who is Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

Having passed the course run by 846 Naval Air Squadron the eleven aircrew are now fully qualified to operate on the Commando Merlin MK4 helicopter. They will now join 845 Naval Air Squadron and begin operational flying.

Following the presentations there was a Role Demonstration of the Commando Merlin with Royal Marines from the Commando Helicopter Force’s Combat Service Support Squadron and members of the Force’s Commando Mobile Air Operations Team.
