OnThisDay – 21 Sept 1941 On 21 September 1941, a Grumman Martlet of 802 Squadron flying from HMS Audacity became the first fighter aircraft from an Escort Carrier to shoot down an enemy aircraft, a FW200 Condor which was attacking Convoy OG74.
