The Association has learned of the death of Lt Jeffery Walter Allard RN on 26 March 2022.

Jeffery was a Pilot with 849 Squadron flying the Fairey Gannet and Douglas Skyraider.

Whilst flying Fairey Gannet XG884 of 849 HQ Flt Culdrose on 2 September 1963, the starboard engine panel came off and shattered the canopy on take-off. The aircraft made an emergency landing. Lt J W Allard & Lt J W Bewick.
Jeffery’s widow Vera writes:
After leaving the Service, Jeffery spent some time working in the Middle East. On his return to the UK in 1976 he took up a post with Standards Flight at the Oxford Air Training School. His retirement years were spent in Cornwall where he enjoyed sailing his boat and taking part in local yachting activities.
