After Fleet Air Arm service I trained as a civilian Air Traffic Controller mainly at London Air Traffic Control Centre. I then served as an Instructor at the College of Air Traffic Control in Bournemouth, then as Head of Training at the Eurocontrol Institute of Air Navigation Services in Luxembourg and as Principal Expert in Training for The safety of Air Navigation with the Commission of the European Union. I continued this service after formal retirement at age 65 as an independent consultant until final retirement at age 72.
