The Association has learned of the death of Lt Cdr The Reverend John Derek Henry Weyman RN.

WEYMAN PACK-BERESFORD Lt Cmdr (Rtd) The Reverend John Derek Henry, died at home on 7th May, aged 86. Adored by his wife and family. Private cremation in Cornwall. Thanksgiving Service at Holy Trinity Church, Westcott at a later date.

John flew the Sea Hawk of 897 NAS embarked on HMS Eagle in 1956 before joining 800 NAS embarked HMS Albion 1957 – 58. John was also a Rotary Wing pilot who flew the Westland Whirlwind of 815 NAS.

Whilst flying Westland Whirlwind XG584 of 815 Squadron on 20 July 1959 the engine cut, restarted then cut again, then ditched in Portland Harbour. Lt JDH Weyman, Lt D C Smith & S/L JC McCormick rescued by civilian boat.
