Educated at Wimborne Grammar School on joining the Royal Navy he went to the Meteorology Branch, then to Kete, Wales on instructional duties. On gaining his commission he joined HMS Ark Royal and became Hangar Control Officer on qualifying as an ATCO, he served in HMS Implacable and HMS Illustrious. 3 years at Hal Far and two years at RNAS Culdrose were followed by HMS Eagle and finally RNAS Yeovilton.
On leaving the Navy he joined de Havillands in Hertfordshire and then to Bristol Airport an ATCO until his retirement.
A dearly loved husband to Bunny. Loved father to gail and loved grandpa to Matthew, Emma and Joshua. A lovely man who will be missed by all that knew him.
