Whilst flying Westland Wessex XM918 of 737 Squadron on 9 September 1969, the engine failed, there was noise and flames from the starboard exhaust, the aircraft ditched, rolled over and sank 11m off Portland Bill Light. S/L Dentith, L/C REA Massey & Lt R Perry recovered by accompanying SAR Wessex 1 and Wessex SM328.
