The Association has learned of the death of Lt Cdr John Dennis Massey Collingridge RN on 3 October 2021.

COLLINGRIDGE John Dennis Massey, Lt.Cdr. RN (retd) Died on October 3rd 2021 aged 89. Beloved husband of Christine and father of David. Private cremation on October 21st 2021 at The Park Crematorium, Aldershot. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society
He was a member of No 3 “Long” Observer Course in 1957 serving with 814 Squadron on A/S Gannets in 1958.
He became Senior Observer of 825 Squadron on its re-formation in August 1960 at Culdrose with Whirlwind HAS.7s.
He retired in 1970.

Whilst flying Whirlwind XN 361 of 825 Squadron on 13 February 1962 the tail rotor was seen to disintegrate, the aircraft ditched and sank off Victorious in Lyme Bay. L/C R Garvin, Lt JDM Collingridge, REL CE Carey & L/S MW Bush all ok.
