FAAOA member and Fleet Air Arm Engineer Toni Harding is looking for support for this amazing event.
She writes:
Looking for additional team members keen to walk/run Leg 8 of the South West Coastal Path in memory of Cdr Amy Gilmore MBE.
Leg 8 is near Weymouth and approx 17km with under 300m elevation. It’s a few hours either side of 0000 on Sunday 17th May so a bit of an epic but for a good cause.
Whilst I only knew of Cdr Amy, it has been so inspiring to tales of her life and work and this an opportunity to raise funds in her memory.
From the 16th to the 23rd May, many family, friends and colleagues of Cdr Amy Gilmore MBE will be traversing a non-stop relay (all 630 miles!) of the South West Coastal Path in her memory.
Amy had planned a sabbatical to complete the South West Coast Path herself, raising money for charity following the loss of her father shortly before she was diagnosed with cancer. During her treatment she found comfort and strength in walking sections of the path with friends and family. Although she did not have the opportunity to complete it, this relay carries forward that intention.
You can still get involved with the Challenge, whether it be walking, running, perhaps providing a cup of tea on the route or simply by donating to raise funds for three very important Charities.We welcome any member of our wider FAA family to take part!
