The Association has learned of the death of Cdr Michael James Mullane RN on 19 Feb 2022 aged 77. He leaves a widow, Sue, 3 daughters and a son.

Although a GL officer, his love was flying. Highlights include Senior Pilot 703 squadron, CO of 829 squadron and Commander Air at Portland.

Whilst flying Westland Wasp XT441 of Leander Flt detached to Galatea on 26.2.76, the engine decking non-slip tread was ingested into the engine 3m NW of Weymouth, the aircraft landed at Portland. Lt M J Mullane & AA1 L B Cameron.
