Personnel gathered today to meet Lt Cdr Tony Hedworth, as he walked back from his aircraft having clocked an impressive 5,000 flying hours.
Captain Stuart Irwin, CO of RNAS Culdrose, was on hand to congratulate Lt Cdr Hedworth as he returned to 750 Naval Air Squadron, where he serves as a staff pilot.
In a naval career spanning 30 years, the qualified helicopter instructor has flown a variety of aircraft including Gazelle, Sea King, Lynx and Wildcat. He reached his 5,000-hours flying the King Air Avenger, the twin-engine aeroplanes used for training helicopter observers in basic flying skills.
